Dr. Ike’s history is very special and unique. Ike Epstein merged his father’s passion for building homes, his passion for making lumber and building materials accessible and affordable, and his wife Doris’s passion for interior decorating. Since 1959, they have built the business around their community, expanding to 3 locations in South Texas with 125 employees. They specialize in Lumber, Building Materials, and Hardware needs for both commercial builders and DIYers. The Dr. Ike’s team considers the launch of their first retail site their 4th store.

Project Overview

  • Integrations | Unilog Integrated with Dr. Ike’s Epicor Eagle’s Point of Sale, PayPal as their payment processor and added Instaply for customers to easily chat with store associates. Since they are partnered with Orgill, they are taking advantage of Buy Online Ship to Store (BOSS) which extends their warehouse quantity available for items that Orgill also sells. For this to be successful, integration with Conexiom is required.
  • Expanded Online Presence | Dr. Ike’s went live with 24,502 items on their site. Since they have Epicor Eagle, the ESTU files are sent daily, leverages the DB Mirror provided by Unilog and presents the products on the site. Product Grouping for Lumber was disabled due to issues with how this displayed on the site. They would like this once it is improved. They are continuing to work with Orgill on enriching and enhancing items to increase the inventory on their site.
  • Design | Dr. Ike’s provided design guidance and their branding guide. Unilog implemented the design approved by Dr. Ike’s. They also hired a 3rd party marketing firm to review the site and make recommendations to enhance the customer experience. We implemented all the requested modifications that were reasonably easy to complete.

Key Features & Functionality 

  • In addition to the Orgill standard template, we worked with the customer to be able to identify “House” or customers that were B2B in nature. Until we can create a Pro eComm site for Eagle dealers, we were able to create a venue for the dealer to be able to cater to those type of customers. As mentioned before, Dr. Ike’s is using the DB Mirror middleware to display their product data on the site. We also added the ability for items to be displayed below the category levels. This is available on the non-Orgill sites but was not part of the standard Orgill template.
